Voice Choices

Earlier this year, we made our way uptown to the Beacon to see real musical champions perform without the mullets, makeup, and ’80s glam-rock garb—and we sure as hell aren’t talking about KISS. Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Christopher Guest stood before us as their true selves, performing every non-hit from This Is Spinal Tap. Now, at tonight’s This Is Spinal Tap Sing-Along, you can join the most awesome faux-band ever—David St. Hubbins, Derek Smalls, and Nigel Tufnel—in singing such brilliant, moving lyrics as “Working up a hot sweat/Crouching in your pea patch/Plowing through your bean field/Planting my seed.” As Smalls puts it, rock and roll is “more like going to a national park or something. And there’s, you know, they preserve the moose. And that’s, that’s my childhood up there on stage. That moose.”
