White Savage

Dir. Arthur Lubin (1943).
Universal’s second Maria Montez-John Hall pairing transposes the dim duo from deepest Baghdad to the equally Technicolor climes of a perfumed, exotic Montezland somewhere in the South Seas. The movie is showing as part of Anthology’s tribute to the late Ronald Tavel who, as the inventor of the Theatre of the Ridiculous, appreciated its poetry.
