In an alternately funny and maudlin statement, Conan O’Brien announces he will not accept the pushed-back time slot into which NBC wants to shove him to accommodate the new 11 p.m. Jay Leno show.
“I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next,” says O’Brien, but despite the contract issues, we doubt NBC will make him work as a page or something if he refuses to go on the air. So, barring some late mind games on the level of Jack Paar and his Tonight Show walk-off, this is it probably for him and the network.
Upside: he can now entertain our Conan O’Brien post-TV employment ideas.
