Blood, guts, death—sounds like a wonderful night out at the theater. And there’s plenty on hand at the Brick in A Brief History of Murder. Richard Lovejoy’s two new interlocking plays, Detectives and Victims, can be seen in repertory or on their own, and offer a David Lynchian take on Oklahoma!. Set in the Okie town of Sentinel, a serial killer wreaks havoc while the fuzz try to find the culprit. Director Ivanna Cullinan draws from the macabre Grand Guignol tradition, adding a little Broadway pizzazz (original music is by Chris Chappell), and a whole lot of gore.
Thursdays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: Jan. 14. Continues through Jan. 31, 2010
