Grant Hart

Hüsker Dü co-songwriter Grant Hart was responsible for their more deliriously wistful material (“Girl Who Lives on Heaven Hill,” “Books About UFOs,” “What’s Goin’ On”), the cheerful optimist to Bob Mould’s cynical “I Apologize” sneer. No surprise that Hart’s recent debut, Hot Wax, mops the floor with any of Mould’s solo stuff since they split—an ear-to-ear grin of Oneida-style psych excursions, bombastic flower-child harmonies, and indie-centric “Live And Let Die”-style bombast.
