If you’ve always yearned to circle dance the night away to four dozen or so Balkan music groups from hither and yon, step right up. New York’s Zlatne Uste Balkan Brass Band has been hosting this annual Balkapalooza for 25 years, and it’s a gorgeously funky spectacle indeed. The ticket includes snacks and refreshments that flow freely in the school cafeteria while fiddles, ouds, dumbeks, horns, voices, and accordions wail on three stages until three in the morning. Highlights include Ivan Milev, Yuri Yunakov, the What Cheer? Brigade, Black Sea Hotel, Kagero, and, of course, the Zlatnes themselves.
