Dir. Patrice Chereau (2009).
This is the New York premiere of multi-talented stage/opera/film director Chereau’s latest examination of sexual obsession. An intimate portrait of a man who has difficulty with relationships, it concerns the travails of Daniel (hairy hunky Romain Duris), a layabout construction worker resentful of his career-woman girlfriend Sonia (Charlotte Gainsbourg) who won’t commit to him. His life gets complicated by the home invasions of a lunatic queer stalker unconditionally in love with him. Daniel becomes both persecuted and persecutor in Chereau’s powerful and compelling drama.
