White Rabbits are unusual in their lack of pyrotechnics—no narcissistic stage garb (of neither the trying-too-hard nor the deliberately nonchalant axes), no ponderously overwrought concept albums. The Brooklyn boys are simply talented and nuanced, with two intelligent dance-rock albums in their roster and excitable live shows that suggest far more brazen chops than sophomore disc It’s Frightening would suggest. But there’s a dread to their swift songs, a shifting malaise not easily kept down—but one you’ll move to anyway. With Glass Ghost and Caveman.
