Thus far, the mania for documenting local food consumption has largely been limited to either desk-bound bloggers or videographers with comfortable shoes. But earlier this month, Pedaling NYC arrived on the scene to lend some wheels to the wandering gastronome oeuvre.
The six-part web series premiered at the beginning of the month with an episode dedicated to finding pizza in Brooklyn. This week’s episode follows Behroush Sharifi, the so-called Saffron King, as he bikes around and delivers spices to Blue Ribbon Bakery, where he makes a pie and a tart with Sefton Stallard, the restaurant’s executive chef.
If nothing else, the bike-to-eat formula does present an elegant solution to the question of what to do with the excess calories consumed during the typical food crawl, something that will undoubtedly come in handy for Episode 5, which takes place at Birdbath.
