Global electronic music has been all about the bass lately, but sometimes it’s nice to look beyond the low end. The new ¡Wepa! weekly fits the bill, presenting the full sonic spectrum of Afro-Latin house. The South Bronx’s Antonio Ocasio has been collecting Latin funk and soul records since the Loft and Paradise Garage spurred his love of music in the early ’70s; now he mans Tribalwinds Records. Lou Gorbea is another local veteran; he started out at the Gallery and now produces for and throws parties with Little Louie Vega.
