He will almost certainly get his own Super Bowl halftime show before too much longer, but in the meantime, Jay-Z will have to content himself with doing pre-show orchestral versions of his singles for the Metallica: S&M crowd. Of course, when the Who, whose entire performance sounded like the last labored scream of a dying man, is your main competition, your win is assured before you even take the field. Shame Kanye, who of course steals “Run This Town” on the Blueprint 3, got left out of it though: like It’s the Real says, it’s probably time for that dude to come back. In the meantime, his part will be played by E.S. Posthumus, whose poorly spelled last name was the source of much delight at the Super Bowl party we attended last night.
