Here Is The Completely Charming Though Utterly Ineffective Neon Indian Bit Jimmy Fallon Did in His Opening Monologue Last Night

Anytime you have to explain to your national television audience a), what the iPhone app Shazam does, b) the out-of-state origins of the University of Washington’s KEXP, c) who the band Neon Indian are, d), why it might be fitting that they have a song called “Terminally Chill” and e), repeatedly play that song over your iPhone speakers in order to really drive home the point, your bit is probably going to fail badly. But the 700 hundred people around the globe who know what all of those things are will love that bit without reservation, and SOTC is proud to be a member of that team. Neon Indian did get around to playing later in the show, filling in for the Kings of Convenience, and that was OK too:

Both clips via Stereogum. But if we’re being honest, we enjoy the one with Fallon talking way more. Not the first time this guy has befuddled us live.
