For two years, Cathy Erway did just that, preparing all her meals at home and then, yes, writing about her findings on her blog ( and publishing a brand-new book. Tonight, join the savvy cook at the launch party for The Art of Eating In, which includes thrifty recipes perfected in her kitchen. There will also be a Bruschetta Takedown (a contest for amateur chefs to experiment with bruschetta recipes) and tasty appetizers. A portion of the ticket sales go to benefit Just Food and Oxfam relief efforts in Haiti.
