A few things about Harold Ford’s twitter feed:
937 is a perfectly respectable number of followers for a feed with 15 tweets on it, particularly one which doesn’t follow anyone
It’s just a hair indiscreet to list an “unofficial blog supporting Harold Ford, Jr. and his vision for New York and America” as your web address on your twitter account, particularly when you actually have a web address
The “unofficial blog supporting Harold Ford, Jr. and his vision for New York and America” really should have had a link back to the twitter feed. Because if the “unofficial blog supporting Harold Ford, Jr. and his vision for New York and America” had a link to Ford’s twitter feed, Tammy Sun, Ford’s campaign manager, would have known it existed.
Sun told City Hall Daily on Thursday that the HFord2 twitter account was “not involved at all” with the campaign and has “zero” connection to Ford, who, she said, “is not tweeting.”
Except, of course, that it is, it doesn’t, and he is. After what City Hall Daily describes as “repeated questions about whether Ford would seek to have the apparently rogue Twitter feed closed,” Sun apparently did a bit of checking and discovered that the not-yet-candidate’s twitter feed is in fact the not-yet-candidate’s twitter feed. She’s following it now.
The subject came up when City Hall Daily was looking into the money Ford is spending in support of his not-yet-candidacy. According to FEC spokesperson Christian Hilland, Ford is not required to disclose any spending he does before he officially announces his candidacy. According to Sun, all of Ford’s spending is out of pocket, he’s the only one with access to information about it, and he can’t (as opposed to won’t) provide a ballpark estimate of how much spending that is.
The “unofficial blog supporting Harold Ford, Jr. and his vision for New York and America,” last updated yesterday, has not yet addressed any of this (although it has quite a bit to say about “The unelected Senator” and why she should release her tax returns from back before she was a candidate).
The official website, which appears to have been most recently updated last April, says that Harold Ford Jr has “No scheduled appearances at this time”
