Future Rock

by

Though any band labeling themselves “the future of dance rock” surely suffers from tall poppy syndrome, we’ll give this Chicago trio the benefit of the doubt. A synth-sheened warmth pervades through their instrumental material, creating a sonic frenzy in tracks such as “No Rain” and “Inside Providence.” They’re playing the Bowery in the midst of a tour that will take them to the Ozarks for something called the Wakarusa Festival, with sets by sorely underrated DJ heroes Junior Boys and scruffy New Yorkers FIGO; this should make the evening very memorable.
