Five for Fighting


Best known as the ivory-tinkler behind early aughts single “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” that henceforth scored every teen weepie imaginable, John Ondrasik—a/k/a Five For Fighting—has spent the latter half of the past decade making populist rock that always charts big. His fifth album, Slice (the name was decided in a MySpace contest), landed in 2009 and was a satisfactory showcase of Ondrasik’s easy melodies, heartfelt piano playing, and every-schlub appeal.
