Dir. Herbert Brenon (1924).
Brenon’s adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic story about the boy who wouldn’t grow up is one of the glories of American silent cinema, a delicate mixture of whimsey and magic—by far the best screen version. Winsome Betty Bronson is superb—she was heartily endorsed by Barrie himself, who considered her an ideal choice for the title role. Anna May Wong is a standout as Tiger Lily.
