Restaurant Workers Win Throwdown With Bobby Flay

Bobby Flay may be able to do no wrong in the eyes of the Food Network, but workers at four of his restaurants haven’t been quite so besotted. The Post reports that the chef has agreed to pay $800,000 to settle claims that staffers at Mesa Grill, Bar Americain, Bobby Flay Steakhouse and the now-shuttered Bolo were denied wages and tips.

The out-of-court settlement, minus $250,000 in lawyer’s fees, was paid to the bartenders, bussers, servers, and runners, all of whom worked at the restaurants between 2003 and last September. The suit was initially filed in January 2009 by three servers at Bar Americain in midtown, who also claimed that Flay forced them to buy and launder their own uniforms.
