A moment of silence for Vue, which passed on to a better place this past Monday. Located on top of Gowanus’ Hotel Le Bleu, the restaurant was known at Fork in the Road as Brooklyn’s very own version of Kurve. With its large-screen TVs, white plastic furniture, and techno soundtrack, it was more memorable for its decor than its deeply dated food, which was further compromised by excessive squeeze bottle embellishment.
According to the Brooklyn Paper, Vue will be replaced by a “classy Italian rooftop restaurant” run by a “prominent chef” who’s worked in Bay Ridge and Lower Manhattan. The place is scheduled to open within the next two weeks or so; only time will tell if it will have a better relationship with the neighbors than its predecessor, whose noisy rooftop bar drew even more complaints than the food did.
