Tonight! The Lovely Feathers, Hockey, and Josefin Fundin

by

It may seem like SXSW is sucking the musical lifeblood out of Gotham this week, but there’s plenty of talent swimming up here, against the current, anyway. Take Montreal’s the Lovely Feathers (to your left), who’ll transform Mercury Lounge into an indie-pop playground with their wooing vocals, kitschy keyboards, and rollicking guitars. Meanwhile, Hockey brings their brand of slacker rock to the Bowery Ballroom, reviving the eternal debate: Gulp that pitcher of beer, or freak out on the dance floor?” Or, you could mellow out at Glasslands Gallery with Sweden’s Josefin Fundin, whose bare-bones acoustic guitar and looped vocals are ideal for a quiet Monday night.
