It’s a double shot of refracted love with the Clientele and Field Music. While Alasdair MacLean and the Clientele have been at it for a bit, they’ve also steadily evolved; Bonfire on the Heath, their fourth full-length, again reconfigures the English group’s longstanding penchant for glistening parlor pop with veteran aplomb and some downright bright moments. Field Music, meanwhile, have just released Field Music (Measure), in which tight bros and co-leaders Peter and David Brewis subject the universe to a double album’s worth of pop music that hits like a grace note hand grenade, equally elegant and delightfully brash.
