Joel Dennis Out at Adour; Jason Bunin In at the Ainsworth


Joel Dennis is leaving Adour Alain Ducasse to “pursue other opportunities.” A rumor that former Essex House chef de cuisine Didier Elena may replace him hasn’t been confirmed, but Sylvain Portay, who has worked with Alain Ducasse for 25 years, will act as the interim chef.

Jason Bunin, who was previously at Knickerbocker, Vintage Irving, and Sidecar before his most recent stint at Hudson Terrace, is the new chef at The Ainsworth. He’s taking over from Dave Feimster.

Lon Symensma, the executive chef at Buddakan, is leaving the restaurant to travel through Southeast Asia. When he returns, he will open his own place.

Willis Loughhead has taken over the kitchen at the Plaza Hotel, and says all will be up and running “sometime in May of this year,” referring, presumably, to the Palm Court space.

Patricia Williams has taken a cooking gig at Smoke Jazz and Supper Club, where she’ll be turning out Southern-flavored favorites like shrimp and grits, and Pepsi beef short ribs.

Marc Elliot is now at the helm at Ceol Irish Pub on Smith Street. Bangers and mash have been replaced by crispy artichoke hearts, sliders, and sweet pulled pork.
