Although the Isabella’s Oven debacle put a definitive end to the hopes of finding decent pizza on the eastern end of Grand Street, there’s hope for neighborhood residents — or at least those willing to take the time to bake their own pies: Pizza a Casa is moving into the Grand Street strip mall that houses Kossar’s Bialys and the Doughnut Plant. The Lo-Down reports that the company is opening a “pizza self-sufficiency center” geared towards home cooks. Its owner, Mark Bello, will be offering pizza classes using ovens similar to those found in the average New York apartment (i.e. incapable of heating above 550 degrees), as well as off-site catering and pizza making supplies. He’s expecting to open for business on April 15.
