If your knowledge of Russian consists mainly of the words “Pravda,” “vodka,” and “Do svidanya,” you’ve got your work cut out for you. The Maly Drama Theatre of St. Petersburg brings its acclaimed production of Uncle Vanya to BAM, and it is performed, as written, in Russian (don’t worry, there are English subtitles). This production celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of playwright Anton Chekhov, whose 1895 tragicomedy about a man struggling with the realization that he’s wasted his life is considered one of his most genius works.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: April 7. Continues through April 11, 2010
