The Bronx friggin’ rawk—they’re a combination of serrated punk fury (à la John Reis bands such as Hot Snakes and Night Marchers) and cruisin’ stoner rock (in the vein of Kyuss and/or QOTSA). The former makes sense as their new album, Mariachi El Bronx, is just that (mariachi!) and is released on Reis’ label Swami Records. It’s a bit confusing, as they often tour simultaneously as the Bronx and Mariachi El Bronx; at press time, it looks like these local shows are the punk incarnation. With Violent Soho.
