Yomo Toro & Roswell Rudd

The 2002 encounter of Puerto Rico’s master of the cuatro (a small 10-string guitar) and a legendary avant-garde trombone prankster led to one of 2007’s finest albums, El Espiritu Jibaro. The duo will be accompanied tonight by drummer Bobby Sanabria’s formidable Ascensíon (as on the album) and joined by David Oquendo (tres), Fania All-Stars violinist Louis Kahn, Tito Castro (bandoneon), Nelson Gonzalez (cuatro), and singer Aimee Allen. Expect smoking descarga improvising, butt-shaking cumbias, down-home jibaros, and consistent exuberance.
