Marcus Samuelsson Crows a Bit About the Red Rooster


Way back in February, it was revealed that 1) Marcus Samuelsson would be a judge on this season’s Top Chef Masters and 2) his new Harlem restaurant would be called the Red Rooster. Today the chef talks with the Wall Street Journal about TCM, which premieres next week, and the restaurant, saying, “I’m just excited to be able to introduce Harlem through food. There are some storytelling restaurants there and we’re the new kid on the block who can add our experience to it — farm-to-table fresh food, a little speakeasy in the basement.”

But don’t expect it to open anytime soon — it’s going to “take a long time because we want to make it right,” Samuelsson says. And by long time, he means “sometime after Labor Day.”
