On the heels of a cooking magazine aimed at men debuting, a new quarterly publication for kids has launched. ChopChop will target children aged 5-12 with recipes and articles intended to teach them to be “nutritionally literate.” The website promises “nutritious, great-tasting, ethnically diverse, and inexpensive recipes,” like cheesy scrambled eggs, green-and-bean quesadillas, congee, and fried chicken. The content will include games, Q&As, and such features as a profile of a 12-year-old chicken farmer and a guide to different kinds of apples.
The magazine will be available in pediatricians’ offices, children’s hospitals, youth centers, as well as some schools, farmers markets, and grocery stores. In this era of Food Revolution and school lunch reform, this seems like a no-brainer.
