Trying to keep up with which chef Broadway East has in its kitchen is like trying to keep up with where Ryan Skeen is working this week. Eater has learned that the self-described flexitarian restaurant has just hired Sasha St. Germain, its ninth chef in two-and-a-half years. St. Germain, an FCI grad who’s logged time at Riingo, Craft, Oceana, Aquavit and, most recently, Artisanal, steps in for Phil Conlon, who took over the kitchen last August. Broadway East was initially the project of Peter Berley, who was replaced by Amanda Cohen (who did some consulting), and then Lee Gross, Matt Downes, Cory Hughes, Gavin Mills, and Patricia Yeo (again, consulting). Broadway East may have been called many things — flexitarian, vegetarian, simply confused — but soon it may very well be known as the Elizabeth Taylor of the New York restaurant world.
