Montreal gets its joie de vivre from this energetic hype crew (featuring Polaris winner Miracle Fortress), who blend dizzying funk, hip-hop samples, and the Curtis Mayfield-esque appeal of singer Martin Caesar into one hella raucous live show (I can testify, as every performance has ended with me clocked in the head). The recent addition of Shapes and Sizes vocalist Caila Thompson-Hannant adds a Fly Girl factor to a band that makes audiences sweat and stage dive. Stay conscious for teen runaway love lament “Sweet Sixteen” and “The Veldt,” a thrash-tastic revision of The Temptations’ “My Girl.” Tonight they’ll take Manhattan, soon they’ll take Berlin. With Light Pollution.
