Some bad news on the butt sex, ladies.
New York City knows you’re having it, and they are ashamed! See, it seems that we’ve been a bit remiss on the whole protection side of things. And the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is not okay with our casual, slutty attitude. For good reason:
A recent study found that 30% of women 15 to 44 years of age have had anal sex at some point in their lives. Studies have also shown that women who have unprotected anal sex with an HIV-infected man are about 30 times more likely to get HIV than if they had unprotected vaginal sex once.
There’s a lot of yikes in that statement. And this one: Only 23 percent of women reported always using condoms during anal sex in the past year.
Didn’t our mothers teach us any better? Good gracious! I mean, sure, sometimes it’s completely an accident (those holes are close), and when you’re drunk… Well, anyway, you should be using a condom either way!
It is unclear whether women are aware of the risks of unprotected anal sex, says the report.
Consider yourself warned. Use a condom. And a whole helluva lot of lube.
