John Doe & Exene Cervenka

Rarely have two rock voices merged with such searing conviction as those of John Doe and Exene Cervenka, co-founders of quintessential Los Angeles punk-rock unit X. The formerly married couple, who also led the Knitters, a rootsier side project, will perform sans accompanists tonight. So expect a provocatively mature and emotionally complex (Cervenka lives with multiple sclerosis) version of their Bakersfield-tinged urban-Americana poetics.
