Patrick Pogan, Cop Who Assaulted Critical Mass Bicylist, Found Not Guilty of Assault, but Guilty of Lying About It

Patrick Pogan, the NYPD cop who was captured on video assaulting a Critical Mass bicyclist Christopher Long in July 2008, was found not guilty Thursday of assault and harassment.

But the State Supreme Court jury in Manhattan did convict Pogan of lying about the assault. He does face some prison time. Earlier, Pogan resigned as the NYPD prepared to fire him.

Pogan’s assault on Long, a body slam that sent the bicyclist flying, has been seen by millions of people. It was captured on video by a tourist and soon went viral.
