What’s Happening This Week: Cinco de Mayo & Cinco de Vino

Tribeca Rooftop

The hills (read: a New York City rooftop) will be alive with the taste of Austria’s best wines, paired with dishes from such restaurants as Wallsé, Aldea, Klee, BLT Prime, 10 Downing Food & Wine, Salumeria Rosi, Telepan, and Recette. Tickets are $55 in advance and $70 at the door, and proceeds from the event will benefit GrowNYC’s Learn It, Grow It, Eat It program, which teaches gardening and nutrition to teens.

What better way to celebrate the Pueblan holiday that with free margaritas? A special happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. will feature $3 chorizo nachos and $5 Margaritas. From 7 to 9 p.m., come for a complimentary Tequila Cazadores margarita with dinner, and between 9 and 11 p.m., get a free Jalapeño Margarita made with Tanteo Tequila if you’re one of the first 25 guests to arrive during that time slot.

6th Anniversary Party

Carroll Gardens’ favorite wine shop celebrates what it has come to call “Cinco de Vino,” its annual anniversary party, which this year marks its sixth year in business. Join the party for 20 percent off all wines and Paloma ingredients, as well as batches of Paloma mixed by booze historian David Wondrich for your sipping pleasure. Word is a bottle or two may be opened and circulated for the occasion.
