‘Basic NYC Presents Jeff Mills’ Saturday, May 8

Mighty Jeff Mills is calling this performance “Tomorrow Plus X,” but we’ve always figured that it’s better to ignore his record sleeves’ abstract, quasi-political rants and focus on what he does best: techno. The Detroit superstar was one of the founders of Underground Resistance, and of techno itself. Here’s a chance to hear the original American minimalism in all its hard, spare, quick-mixing glory. With Chris Love and Billy Belmont and residents Sleepy & Boo.

Sat., May 8, 9 p.m., 2010
