Beach House

It’s always raining at mopey songwriters Beach House’s waterfront Shangri-La. But a few clouds and sprinkles can’t squelch the fluidity, beauty, and grace of future-classic jams such as “Zebra” and “Norway” from their career best, Teen Dream. Sticking to their guns with (mostly) the same basic instrumentation as past albums—lazy and minimal behind-the-beat drums, funereal organ, and breezy clean-and-cottony guitar lines—the sounds are the same, but the songs have grown in dynamics, hooks, and varied musical passages.
