Back in early ’90s Bristol, Massive Attack helped create the genre known as trip-hop, the downtempo comedown in which Britain reinterpreted instrumental hip-hop through an acid house filter. Their dark, sampled soul made Blue Lines and Protection instant classics. After endless collaborations and some personnel changes, they’re still going strong. Tonight they show off their latest, the warmly organic Heligoland, featuring former Tricky back-up, Martina Topley-Bird. With Antipop Consortium.
