Fucked in Park Slope Blogger Launches Design Blahg, Promises Continued Bitching

by

Hyper-local Brooklyn blog Fucked in Park Slope has veered from snarky news updates to girlier pastures, namely the magical land of crafty interior design blogs. Fucked in Park Slope (FIPS) and its corresponding Twitter @EffedParkSlope have been spotlighting the often ridiculous, neighborhood issues of BK’s most yuppified hood for 2 years. (Fresh Direct truck smashes SUV!) Its sassy, often downright bitchy, tone has earned a loyal following among Slopians and (gasp) outsiders.

Now Erica Reitman, the mind behind FIPS, is bringing her insight and cynicism to a new home-design blog called, duh, Design Blahg. Following in the footsteps of other grassroots design blogs Apartment Therapy and Design Sponge, Design Blahg features sales alerts, interviews with industry folks, and pretty (read: unattainable) interiors but with more WTFs and commentary like, “[these] bitches be selling out like whoa.” Didn’t think home décor blogging could be so feisty? Here’s a hint: that last quote was about pillow shams.

In its inaugural week of existence, Design Blahg has admitted to stalking an ex-HGTV Design Star contestant, asked readers for their favorite place in their “house/apt/trailer to get it awn,” and defined a new term in design blogging: Decornographer. The first post went live last Monday and profiled, briefly, the new home-goods line by purveyors of horrible advertising concepts, Diesel. DB’s take: “[The collection works] across three main themes: music, retro, and discovery (whatever the fuck that means). Unsurprisingly, all this shit looks like vampires, and sex, and rock bands.”
