In March, the newly constructed Brooklyn Bridge Park was launched with a ceremony at Pier 1 attended by a lot of city politicians who stood around shivering in the drizzling rain. It was but a prelude to sunnier and more well-fed times: today, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corp. announced its line-up of summer food and beverage vendors.
Following a request it sent out in February for formal vending proposals, the Corporation has selected Ditch Plains, Blue Marble, Calexico Carne Asada, and Pier 66 Maritime to ply visitors to Pier 1 with food and wine. Ditch plains will serve “surf-style” grub like lobster rolls and hot dogs, while Blue Marble will sell its organic ice cream, Calexico will turn out burritos and tacos, and Pier 66 Maritime will operate an outdoor wine bar.
There’s no exact date set for the opening of the concession stands, but a representative of Empire State Development says they should be up and running by mid-July, while a Ditch Plains rep predicts an opening no later than July 4.
