New Yorkers are getting a treat. The L.A.– and Berlin–based queercore drag legend Vaginal (Creme) Davis is imposing her “terrorist drag” talents upon Gotham in Vaginal Davis is Speaking from the Diaphragm. As the recipient of PS122’s ingenious Ethyl Eichelberger Award, Davis concludes her year of glory with a run at the space. Joined by co-hosts Carmelita Tropicana and last year’s Eichelberger winner, bearded lady Jennifer Miller, Davis stars as a 1970s-style daytime talk show host à la Dinah Shore, welcoming guests (both live and over Skype) from the farthest reaches of her 30-year career as a gender-deconstructing artist and musician. Expect appearances by drag historian Joe E. Jeffreys, experimental filmmaker Bruce LaBruce, Beastie Boys’ Adam Horovitz and Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna, and performance artists Dynasty Handbag, Annie Sprinkle, and Kembra Pfahler.
