NYPD Quote of the Day: “I Need to Know What Color Underwear Everybody’s Wearing”

“The NYPD Tapes: Inside Bed-Stuy’s 81st Precinct,” chronicles hundreds of recorded hours of cops talking about their jobs between June 1, 2008, and October 31, 2009. Part 2 appears in this week’s issue of the Voice.

Here’s today’s outtake:

On October 5:

“Take a defib, please, and when I say take a defib, please, I mean remove a defibrillator device from the stationhouse, insert it in your car, and drive around with it,” he says. “Take your defib. You might need it for yourself at some point.”

“Alright, I also need to know what color underwear everybody’s wearing,” he adds, joking.
