Williamsburg and Greenpoint will promote neighborhood culinary pride and try to raise money for a local community center this Sunday, May 16, with Taste Williamsburg Greenpoint, a grazing event featuring many of the neighborhoods’ restaurants, shops, and bars.
The event’s participating vendors include Bedford Cheese Shop, Pies ‘n’ Thighs, Sel de Mer, Rye, Van Leeuwen’s Ice Cream, Dressler, Dumont, the Manhattan Inn, the Brooklyn Brewery, and DOC Wine Bar.
There will also be a cook-off between the Food Experiments’ Theo Peck and Nick Suarez, as well as music from various bands. Tickets start at $35 (they’re on a sliding scale, priced according to how many tastes you want), and all proceeds will benefit the building of the Northside Town Hall Community and Cultural Center, which will be located in the former Engine 212 Firehouse that closed in 2003 amid protests. Tickets and information about times and location can be found here.
