Brooklyn now joins the ranks of burgs with their own branded Absolut vodka, including New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Boston. Absolut Brooklyn was conceived with the help of Spike Lee, a native of the borough. (The house number on the stoop depicted on the bottle’s label, no. 165, is supposedly his address.) Absolut has promised to donate $50,000 from the proceeds of the limited-edition bottling to Habitat for Humanity’s efforts to build affordable, green homes in Bed-Stuy. But, just what makes it ‘Brooklyn,’ you ask?
The vodka is said to have “a fresh and distinct character of ripe apples with a slight hint of ginger,” according to a press release. And the bottle’s iconic Lars Olsson Smith medallion has been altered to look like Lee with glasses and a baseball cap. Luckily, you don’t have to be in Brooklyn to buy it: Park Avenue Liquor Shop is stocking the stuff for $29 a bottle.
