Food writer and cook Nigel Slater’s bestselling memoir Toast will be made into a BBC One drama, and Helena Bonham Carter will play Slater’s stepmother. Freddie Highmore, who starred in Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, will play Slater.

With Dean Poll unable to appease food union workers, Tavern on the Green will now become a visitors center with snack bar and gift shop.
