Bettye LaVette+Peter Wolf

by

The Stones-y new Sleepless from Wolf, the former J. Geils Band singer, isn’t quite as intriguing as New Jersey soul siren LaVette’s Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook, which turned the tables on the Beatles, Stones, Yardbirds, and every other British pop invader inspired by African-American soul and r&b. She’ll sing the entire thing—which includes Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here,” Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed,” and the Stones’ “Salt of the Earth”—tonight.
