Orrin Evans Quartet

The hard-hitting pianist’s Faith in Action stands out because it’s dedicated to determination—even the easy-going asides feel like crucial addendums. The Philly bandleader spends lots of time in town, and though he often changes his rhythm sections, he always has some killer back-up. For this gig, he’s got Bobby Watson on board as well. It’s a full circle maneuver: half of Faith is given over to pieces by the veteran saxophonist. Could be a next-level night.
