Hot Bread Kitchen‘s yeasty wares can be found throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn at retailers ranging from Saxelby Cheesemongers to Greene Grape Provisions. And now they can also be found alfresco: beginning last week, the bakery, which is based in Brooklyn, set up a stall at the Union Square Greenmarket, where it will be every Wednesday for the foreseeable future. In addition to its lavash and tortillas, Hot Bread is baking fresh breads specifically for the market. They’ll vary with the seasons, but will include focaccia, a multigrain loaf, and an empanada-like broccoli rabe-Asiago pocket.
In addition to Union Square, Hot Bread also now has a stall at the Saturday Fort Greene farmers’ market, and within the next two months plans to start selling at the U.N. market and another market location that has yet to be announced.
