Rayuela’s Third Anniversary
Even though this Lower East Side restaurant is the one celebrating a birthday, you get the gift. Throughout the month of June, enjoy a $53 five-course chef’s tasting menu (that’s just over $10 per course) to commemorate three years of “Estilo Libre Latino” cuisine, as chef Máximo Tejada likes to call it, which means the menu features native ingredients from all over Latin America, Mexico, and Spain. Wine pairings are an additional $28.
Gourmet Latino Festival
Sample Latin food and drinks from some 30 of the top Latino chefs in the city and beyond. Stars of the kitchen, like Aaron Sanchez of Food Network fame, his über-famous mom, Zarela Martinez, and newly minted Iron Chef Jose Garces, will be joined by those from behind the bar, like Junior Merino and Dale DeGroff, for this week of demonstration classes, workshops, and tastings. The event also includes an “Authentic Dining Week,” June 8-12, with 16 restaurants in New York and New Jersey participating.

They’ll cover it all: tips on reinventing your sandwich, how to maintain a home arsenal of unique sandwich condiments, pairing the perfect beverages with your sandwiches, and even the surprising health benefits of sandwiches. Proceeds from the class will benefit Slow Food NYC.
