Thrillist reports that Eddie’s Pizza of New Hyde Park, a 70-year-old Long Island standby, is launching a Manhattan pizza truck this week. Eddie’s Twitter feed confirms the news, announcing that it will be somewhere in Midtown on Thursday and Friday.
Eddie’s is known for its 10-inch, thin-crusted “bar pies,” which are meant to leave room for beer. In 2009, Ed Levine checked the place out and pronounced it excellent:
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Eddie’s pizza, which features a crust not much thicker than one of those pieces of cardboard sandwiched inside my laundered shirts. Though the crust is cracker-thin, it’s surprisingly pliant. You can fold a slice of Eddie’s pizza.
The truck pizzas will be sold in 10-inch and 16-inch versions (no slices), with a choice of 15 toppings. Sides will include zucchini sticks and sweet potato gnocchi.
