Well, this is unexpected: Ryan Skeen is taking his manly swagger downtown to the kid-centric confines of Sweetiepie. Eater reports, and a call to the restaurant confirms, that the chef — who was last seen clarifying to us his role as a consulting chef at 5 & Diamond — will act as a helper to the consulting chef at the restaurant, whose menu is best known for such epicurean delights as the Sweetiepig, a $75 dessert involving 75 scoops of ice cream.
Skeen will apparently help to reconfigure the menu and bring in new suppliers like Pat LaFrieda. Here’s hoping that the West Village’s pampered offspring will soon be picking bits of fried baby pig’s head out of their mac ‘n’ cheese.
